Sam Temple has been a writer for more than 30 years with many published pieces out in the world and an MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Oregon University. Sam lives with his wife and six-hound dogs on seven forested acres in the coast range’s eastern foothills just outside of Tenmile and Winston, OR. Sam takes pride in being an authentic and accountable human in this world and is called to participate in things that lift people.

Sam Temple has been a working writer for more than 5 years with journalism and grant writing as his early focus. With an 80% success rate in finding and procuring funding options for nonprofits in Douglas County, Sam is not only competent and capable as both a grant writer, report writer, budget creator, and grant researcher, he also loves this work and hand crafts his work without the influence of AI. This personal touch matters.  Sam also has the journalist skills abilities to take notes on as much information as you have about your business and parse that into terse quality grant responses. 

Sam Temple brings decades of experience working alongside women-led organizations, small businesses, and nonprofits, with a particular focus on equity, access, and sustainable growth. His commitment to supporting women’s leadership is rooted in both lived experience and professional practice, shaped by early exposure to feminist advocacy, years of collaboration in male-dominated fields, and close partnership with women working in empowerment, education, and community development.

Through Hound Dog Grants & Consultation, LLC, Sam provides thoughtful, diligent grant support to individuals who are interesting in fulling their dreams of a small business or nonprofit, expanding an existing organization o that next level, or develop new programs to serve their communities. His approach centers clarity, collaboration, and respect for the vision of the people doing the work.



With 15 years in social work and 10 years as a Suos Chef, Sam has spent most of his adult life in roles of serving others. You now can hire that service to support your own dreams and goals.
